First attempt at sharing a DIY moment on my blog. I am just a little nervous. It seems that sometimes what I think make sense, does not always make sense to others... Anyhow, a few weeks ago I did some beautifying to my back patio. My dog, Champ, really enjoyed watching me and my helpers while sunning himself.
So here goes:
A few weeks ago, Kaijah and I went to a few thrift stores and brought home some neat stuff for the back yard. I decided to get busy and start using these items and some items I already had sitting around the house. I would like to have a nice place to hang out this summer and my back patio is perfect in the afternoon.
The first thing I did was paint this old "table" I have had for a few years now. I found this at a thrift shop also. It needed love then and it definitely still needed love. I spray painted the entire thing white and then I painted a few flowers and leaves with acrylic paint. I think it came out nice.
Then, I had the bright idea to turn my daughter's old crib into a seat. I was not able to resell it because it was a drop-side and those seem to be a no-no now. It can hold more weight than you think. I taped some out door fabric to the mattress I had to use painters tape since my daughters like to use duct tape for crafts.
Next, I asked my husband and Kairah to put the crib together outside (minus the drop side). Easy enough...
It looks so nice. Charlie loves it, but does not like to share it.
Here is my new seating area. The tapestry to the right was one of the items I purchased from the thrift shop. I have a macrame hanging pot holder that I have to figure out how to hang that will be going on the left side I think. The table is still holding our stereo and the basket for Charlie's toys came from my birthday gift. We have enjoyed this area very much the last few weeks.
