I Love Holiday Weekends!

I absolutely, positively love holiday weekends! Not for the same reason that most people do. You see I live in a tourist area, so on holiday weekends our beaches are packed and traffic is terrible. We do not have friends that barbecue or party. Therefore, on holiday weekends we start checking projects off our list. Three or four day weekends are perfect for this because most projects only take a day or two at the most. Then, you still have a day to rest.

This weekend my wonderful husband and daughter fixed our irrigation issue in our vegetable garden, as I had previously posted about. Isn't he sweet for holding the umbrella for her. He also installed a new sprinkler timer. I do not have to run from the sprinklers anymore or wake up before the sun. Woot Woot!
In addition to all that hard work, my husband apparently got tired of hearing me cursing the ridiculous counter because he cut that sucker clean off! Way to go hubby!
The husband was not the only one keeping busy. I made this lovely dress for Charlie in less than a day. I think that is some sort of record for me. She is not in love with it yet, but I am sure she will be after it hangs in her closet a few weeks. I also patched one of her favorite pair of leggings. She loves the polka dot heart on her knee :D
I also made some "chunky" strawberry peach jam. Although it did not "smoosh" down enough, it still tastes good and the girls seem to like the big chunks of fruit. This was also the first time I set my stove on fire. Note to self: I need bigger pots and more of them for canning.
I also did some book reading, took naps every day, went to bed early, got up early, saw two movies, deodorized my couch with baking soda, started looking into embroidery, made almond milk (which is already gone), coconut milk, chocolate coffee syrup and cold brewed coffee, attempted to make coconut butter, made raw donuts (not impressed, definitely an acquired taste OMG! just looked at the recipe again - I missed the "topping" - sure glad I kept those little things in the fridge...sugaring those bad boys up tonight!) and started working on a dress for myself. This will be the first time that I make something for myself.

BTW I also finished reading a blog series I started on Friday. The blogger likes to do 1950s housewife experiments, HIL-LAR-RI-OUS!
